Discover the Corniche Vendéenne !
Thanks to a recent redevelopment, the Corniche Vendéenne is a very nice hike to do as a couple, with friends or with your children. It will reveal three kilometers of wild rocky coastline from Saint Gilles Croix de Vie to the Sion district of Saint Hilaire de Riez, as well as a unique view of the cliffs and the numerous rocks.
By following the Corniche de Sion towards the north, you will be able to observe the “devil’s hole”, a rocky cavity in which the waves rush in at high tide, which makes for a breathtaking spectacle! Legend has it that the devil kicked his heel at this point on the cliff, disappointed at having lost his deal with Saint Martin (legend of Pont d’Yeu).
From Sion sur l’Océan towards Saint Hilaire de Riez, you will discover the “five pineaux”. It is an alignment of 5 rocks facing the ocean.
